Via Ferrata Spielmäuer and Falkenstein in Austria - what will you experience?

Epic day full of steel and heights you will set off near the village of Wegscheid. Your climbing journey will begin with a 35-minute pleasant walk to warm up, which will lead you to the first challenge: Tristans Kirchbogensteig. This C-grade route is perfect for getting started - it is beginner-friendly and despite its classification, every step is easily manageable. The ultimate highlight is a bench with a beautiful view and a cave hollow with a short wooden bridge.

From here, you will take a short, relaxing descent via Olivers Mariazeller Steig (sections A-B, meaning pure chill) to connect to the true gem of this area - Felix Himmelsleiter. This D-grade route is pure adrenaline! It is a rope ladder about 10 meters long, which is turned away from the rock, so you are literally climbing with a view into the void! After the ladder, there are about three meters of more difficult D-grade climbing on smooth rock, which will test your strength and technique. If there are beginners in the group and they don't want to risk it, they can easily return to the cars, no one is pushed into anything! On the way back to the parking lot, you will pass by the mysterious "Die Teufels Brücke", translated as Devil's Bridge.

After lunch, you will face Ferrata Falkenstein with a challenging C/D route (with sections up to hard D-grade). Key moment: A bridge in the middle of the route, where you cross on a single rope – it's a total test of courage! If you don't have a phobia of heights, you will manage it. Then follows easy climbing to the summit, from where you can turn off to the hut. You have two escape routes available, and the descent to the cars takes only 15 minutes.

What's included in the Via Ferrata Spielmäuer and Falkenstein experience in Austria?

The course includes:

• Group Via Ferrata course (for 1 or 2 people), which will provide you with the theoretical and practical parts, including demonstrations of techniques and belaying.
• Rental of complete Via Ferrata equipment (helmet, harness, energy absorber, chest harness, carabiners).
• Instructor: Certified mountaineering instructor SHS JAMES – rock climbing and Via Ferrata, with many years of experience
• PHOTOS AND VIDEOS FROM THE WORKSHOPS & COURSES (usually within 5 working days via a download link)
• Duration: 6- 8 hrs (duration depends on the performance and experience of the participants and the current conditions on the Via Ferrata)

The course is ideal for Via Ferrata pros who have already mastered easy climbs, at least C-grade routes. Via ferratas in Austria are objectively more difficult than the Skalka or Dve veže via ferratas. Besides a firm grip, you'll also need a decent level of fitness. You're in for 7 hours of walking and climbing with a total ascent of 800 metres. Remember, just to reach the Spielmäuer Via Ferrata, you'll tackle 350 metres of elevation over 1.7 km.

Important information about Via Ferrata Spielmäuer and Falkenstein in Austria:

	Sezóna/Počasie	The experience can be realised Monday to Sunday from 01/05 to 14/09/2027 (inclusive) and 15/10 to 31/10 (inclusive), depending on availability and weather. In the event of adverse weather, it is up to the provider (instructor) to decide and evaluate whether to move the reservation to a new date. The Falkenstein and Spielmäuer Via Ferratas have a seasonal closure from 15/09 to 15/10.
	Clothing	For the course, bring sportswear, sturdy shoes (not sneakers), a light waterproof jacket and a backpack (10-35 l), food and drink and a change of clothes.
	Podmienky	The course is open to people from 8 years of age with the consent and accompaniment of a legal guardian (written consent from a legal guardian is required for those under 18, and the service provider must be informed of the participation of a minor in advance). The experience takes place on pre-determined dates according to the provider's available capacity. Booking a date outside of the provided terms is possible provided there are at least 4 people and an agreement is reached with the provider. The final duration of the experience depends on the specific Via Ferrata, as well as the performance and experience of the participants and other climbers in the area. Cancellation policy: 0% cancellation fee if cancelled up to 24 hours before the experience, 100% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 24 hours before the experience.
