Via Ferrata in the Alps are among the most famous and diverse in the world. In Austria it is located more than 550 via ferrata, it is one of the most popular destinations for via ferrata climbing in Europe. Most of them are situated in various mountainous areas, especially in the Alps. The Austrian Alps offer a wide range of via ferratas, from easy routes for beginners to extremely challenging and technical routes for experienced climbers.

Via ferrata Hans von Haidsteig - Preiner Wand – Rax Alpen (Northern Limestone Alps)

Via ferrata tour on the most beautiful via ferrata in the Eastern Alps, Hans von Haidsteig (difficulty C/D). VIA FERRATA HANS VON HAIDSTEIG is a via ferrata leading to the summit of Preiner Wand (1783 m above sea level) in the Raxalpe mountains near Vienna. The via ferrata combines ladders, passages with views and rock barriers with short walking sections. .

The via ferrata is divided into five parts. The first short training section has a difficulty of B/C, where you will practice climbing techniques. After a shorter walking section, you will reach difficulty C/D with an inclined iron ladder. Next is easier terrain with a second ladder (difficulty B), which gives you a break before the key part of the Via Ferrata – a rock crevice and a chimney with a difficulty of C/D to D. After overcoming it, you will only encounter easier sections with beautiful views at a difficulty of B-B/C.

What does the Via ferrata Preiner Wand experience in Austria include?

The course includes:

• Group Via Ferrata course (for 1 or 2 people), which will provide you with the theoretical and practical parts, including demonstrations of techniques and belaying.
• Rental of complete Via Ferrata equipment (helmet, harness, energy absorber, chest harness, carabiners).
• Instructor: Certified mountaineering instructor SHS JAMES – rock climbing and Via Ferrata, with many years of experience
• PHOTOS AND VIDEO FROM THE WORKSHOPS & COURSES (usually within 5 working days via a download link)
• Duration: 6- 8 hrs (duration depends on the performance and experience of the participants and the current conditions on the Via Ferrata)

The course is ideal for beginners and slightly advanced climbers from 8 years old with average fitness (capable of a 6-hour ascent). The climb will take place on Via Ferrata with difficulty levels B – C/D (D). There are 5 to 7 people + an instructor in the group.

Important information about the Via ferrata Preiner Wand experience in Austria:

	Sezóna/Počasie	The experience can be realised Monday to Sunday from 01/05 to 31/10/2027 - depending on available capacity and weather. In the event of adverse weather, it is up to the provider (instructor) to decide and evaluate whether to move the reservation to a new date.
	Clothing	For the course, bring sportswear, sturdy shoes (not sneakers), a light waterproof jacket and a backpack (10-35 l), food and drink and a change of clothes.
	Podmienky	The course is open to people from 8 years of age with the consent and accompaniment of a legal guardian (written consent from a legal guardian is required for those under 18, and the service provider must be informed of the participation of a minor in advance). The experience takes place on pre-determined dates according to the provider's available capacity. Booking a date outside of the provided terms is possible provided there are at least 4 people and an agreement is reached with the provider. The final duration of the experience depends on the specific Via Ferrata, as well as the performance and experience of the participants and other climbers in the area. Final confirmation of the date is provided at least 2 days (48 hours) before the event, depending on the weather and current conditions. Cancellation policy: 0% cancellation fee if cancelled up to 24 hours before the experience, 100% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 24 hours before the experience.
