2. COOKIES
Cookies (or cookie files) are text (data) files containing a small amount of information (data) that are stored on the user's computer, mobile phone or other device when visiting websites. Subsequently, with each subsequent visit to the website, the cookie files are sent back to the website (or other pages), which recognize the cookie files and thus enable the website to recognize the user's computer, mobile phone or other device.
3. PURPOSE OF COOKIES
Cookies are used for various purposes, starting with ensuring the functionality of websites, through enabling individualization and personalization of websites or statistical analyzes of user behavior on websites, and ending with targeting of advertising to website users.
4. TYPES AND TYPES OF COOKIES
Division of cookies in terms of durability
In terms of durability (storage time), cookies are divided into temporary cookies (session cookies) and long-term cookies (persistent cookies).
Temporary cookies are cookies that are activated when the website is opened, and which are automatically deleted when you leave the website. Long-term cookies are cookies that remain stored on the user's device for the period specified in the cookie files.
Division of cookies in terms of origin
In terms of origin, a distinction is made between "first party cookies" and "third party cookies".
"First-party" cookies are cookies created by the website you visit, and only these websites can read (recognize) this type of cookie.
"Third party" cookies are, on the other hand, cookies created by third parties (persons) that are stored on the user's device by websites (domain) other than the website the user is currently viewing. "Third-party" cookies are stored on many websites on the Internet, and the third parties (persons) who created these cookies are thus able to track users across all websites where these cookies are stored. Thanks to this, third parties (persons) can monitor, analyze and evaluate the behavior of users, and the website operator can thus provide various services (e.g. measurement of website traffic or placement of targeted advertising).
Division of cookies in terms of function
In terms of function, cookies can be divided into strictly necessary cookies, essential cookies, analytical cookies, conversion cookies, remarketing cookies, and tracking cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies are cookies that are absolutely necessary for the website to function. The use of strictly necessary cookies does not require the user's consent.
Analytical cookies are cookies that collect anonymous information about how users use websites, for example, which subpages are visited most often by users or what content users are most interested in. This information makes it possible to improve the attractiveness and optimize the content of the website.
Remarketing cookies are cookies that we use for proper targeting and personalization of advertising.
Conversion cookies are cookies for analyzing the performance of sales channels.
Tracking cookies in combination with conversion cookies help analyze the performance of various sales channels.
