Ayurvedic Massage - What to Expect?

Abhyangam (abhyanga) is a popular Ayurvedic massage. In Sanskrit, 'abhyangam' means to massage. It has gained popularity mainly for its effective effects on the body. The massage focuses on the entire body, feet, and hands. After applying special herbal medicinal oils, a gentle massage follows, during which the therapist massages the body sequentially in seven basic positions. It acts on the so-called marmas, nodal points or junctions of energy flows in our body.

Procedure duration - 45 minutes

Back Massage Podikizhi (podikihi) is part of a group of massages called "heat therapy". Podikizhi is performed using small pouches filled with roots of various medicinal herbs, heated during the massage in warm medicinal Ayurvedic oil. The massage is alternately combined with tactile techniques. It is performed by one therapist. The Podikizhi back massage is excellent for relieving painful and stiff muscles, helps with chronic or momentary injuries or overloads, muscle colds, and inflammation.

Procedure duration - 60 minutes

Full Body Podikizhi (podikihi) is effective for many problems caused by imbalances of Vata and Kapha doshas, especially rheumatic diseases, arthritis, degenerative joint inflammation, and paralysis. This procedure is also effective for poor body mobility, it relaxes stiff muscles and also helps with muscle injuries and strengthens the musculature overall. The procedure is detoxifying and also has a beneficial effect on cellulite.
