How does a Hot Air Balloon Ride in the Alps work?

Flight in the Alps Valley

The valley flight usually lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of pure air time. The balloon floats in the magnificent scenery of the Alps. Flights mainly start in the vicinity of well-known locations such as Filzmoos or Zell am See.

The experience includes:

Crossing the Alps

Description: Flights across the Alpine arch from Austria to Italy are a monumental experience. It is a 3-5 hour flight possible only a few days a year when exceptional weather conditions are met. Therefore, great flexibility from passengers is key – the flight is planned on short notice.

The experience includes:

• Alpine crossing by hot air balloon.
• Traditional first-time flyer baptism and a baptismal certificate with a new balloonist name.
• Passenger insurance.
• Dinner and accommodation with breakfast in Italy or Slovenia.
• On the second day, transport back to the meeting point in Austria.

Important information about balloon flights:

	Sezóna/Počasie	Standard valley flights take place in winter (December – February) and summer (July – September), while the extreme Alpine Crossing is only possible in winter (November – February), with suitable weather conditions being key for all variants.
	Clothing	Winter flights (including the Crossing): Clothing should be warm, layered, and functional, similar to ski wear (including a hat and gloves). Warm, waterproof boots that support the ankle are extremely important. Summer flights: Our Picks recommend sportswear and footwear with long sleeves/trousers due to the morning chill, or a windbreaker. The temperature in the balloon is only slightly cooler than on the ground.
	Podmienky	Age and health requirements: For a Standard Flight, the minimum age is 14 years (with parental accompaniment). The Alpine Crossing is exclusively for adults (18 years and over) who are 'fit' and have no health restrictions related to altitude.
